Want clean and rejuvenated skin free of fine lines, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation? It’s time to harness the power of your skin through microneedling. Microneedling is a non-surgical procedure using tiny needles to rejuvenate the skin, improving wrinkles, acne scars, and the skin’s overall quality.
What Can Microneedling Treat?
Microneedling improves nearly every aspect of the skin by boosting the skin’s collagen production. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein in the skin that keeps our skin firm. As a result, we use microneedling to treat issues including:
- Dark spots or patches of skin
- Large pores
- Reduced skin elasticity
- Stretch marks
- Sun damage
- And, wrinkles
Microneedling is less expensive than laser treatments and works better on people with darker skin due to not using heat which affects pigmentation.
What is the Process of Microneedling?
If you are interested in the treatment but are unsure about the microneedling treatment, here is what you can expect from the procedure:
- One of our health professionals at Winter Park Plastic Surgery cleanses your skin. After being cleaned, a numbing cream is applied to allow a comfortable experience during the procedure.
- We will then use a small, handheld microneedling device with a sterile, disposable tip with 12 tiny needles. These needles pierce the skin up to 2 mm, creating micro-tunnels. These micro-tunnels prompt the skin to begin healing, producing new collagen and elastin.
- Afterward, we apply Vitamin-C serums to hydrate and heal your skin, while hyaluronic acid, a common skincare ingredient, is used to protect the skin.
The entire procedure lasts 30 minutes, with little to no downtime required. You will be able to return to your daily routine immediately. Slight redness or pink tones may last for 12 to 48 hours afterward.
For firmer, younger-looking skin, Winter Park Plastic Surgery recommends looking into our RF microneedling. We use Genius™ RF systems to cause controlled micro-damage to the deeper layers of the epidermis, resulting in more collagen production. This treatment also requires no downtime and works on all skin types.
Results of Microneedling
Microneedling rejuvenates the skin by utilizing the skin’s natural production of collagen, improving the skin’s texture and overall complexion. Subsequently, results of microneedling require time to appear. You should see improvement in your skin a few weeks following the appointment.
For overall rejuvenation, three (3) microneedling procedures are recommended. To minimize the appearance of hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and more, Winter Park Plastic Surgery recommends a minimum of three to six (3-6) procedures. The appointments should be spaced about four to six (4-6) weeks apart to give the skin time to heal. Maintenance appointments are recommended once a year following the completion of the treatment.
Once you complete your treatment, your skin will be rejuvenated and more even-toned, with fewer lines and wrinkles.
