Along with your nose, your lips are one of the defining features of your face. Full, soft lips can make you feel confident and enhance your appearance. However, some people have naturally thin lips, while others lose fullness due to aging. Regardless of why your lips lack volume, you have several non-surgical options for lip enhancement that can provide your desired look.

What is Lip Enhancement?

Lip enhancement uses injectable treatments to give your lips natural-looking fullness without affecting their flexibility. Which option works best for you will depend on several factors, including the shape of your lips, their proportion to the rest of your face, and how subtle or dramatic you want your results to look. Dr. Greenberg and his team will assess your needs and help you select the best choice for you.

What are My Lip Enhancement Options?

Injectable lip enhancement is a quick, in-office procedure that often takes less than 15 minutes to perform. Both options have advantages that will be discussed during your consultation.

Dermal Fillers

The dermal filler families Juvederm® and Restylane® offer several types of lip fillers. These fillers use hyaluronic acid, a compound that occurs naturally in your skin. When injected, this material attracts and holds moisture, boosting your lips’ volume and making them look soft and hydrated. This lip enhancement procedure allows you to achieve as little or as much volume as you want.

Botox®

While most people think of fillers, you can also have lip enhancement using Botox®. This procedure is called a “lip flip.” Instead of adding volume like a filler, Botox® creates the appearance of fuller, poutier lips by relaxing muscles around your mouth. As a result, your lips turn out more, revealing more of themselves for a subtle but effective result.

Is There Any Downtime After Lip Enhancement?

These injectable treatments have no downtime, and you can return to work or other activities immediately. Your lips may feel sensitive or swollen, and you may notice some bruising. These effects will fade within a few days. You may receive other instructions depending on the type of treatment you have.

How Long Does Lip Enhancement Last?

How long your lip enhancement lasts depends on the treatment used and how your body responds to it. Lip fillers are a particularly flexible, fluid type of dermal filler, so they typically last six months to a year. Botox® results last three to four months for most people. Your schedule will depend on how your body responds, with treatment lasting longer for some people than others.

I have been a patient of Doctor Greenberg since 2003. I have had minor facial surgery along with fillers and Botox and have always been pleased with results. The staff are professional and caring and always make me feel like family. Great practice!
