Radiesse

Radiesse is a long-lasting injectable filler and is an excellent choice to “revolumize” the face after aging or weight loss creating a non-surgical cheek lift. There is some evidence suggesting that Radiesse acts as a collagen stimulator; after the product has disappeared, there may be some longer-lasting effects as a result of new collagen production.

How Does Radiesse Work?

Radiesse can reduce wrinkles, folds and sunken areas of the face, especially the nasolabial area. It is incredibly versatile and the longest-lasting injectable filler available. Radiesse is made up of calcium hydroxylapatite crystals and methylcellulose gel to facilitate injection. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a mineral naturally found in your bones and teeth, and originally it was used as a hard-tissue filler for bones. When doctors observed its high bio-compatibility, this soft-tissue filler was developed. The mineral stays in place as a framework for the collagen which your body will produce.

Am I a Good Candidate for Radiesse?

Radiesse may be a better alternative for patients with deeper creases and lines, older patients with less collagen support and for those patients who desire a more long-lasting result.

You should be in good health and have realistic expectations for this treatment.

How Long Does a Typical Treatment Take?

As with other injectable fillers, Radiesse injections take about 15 minutes. A topical numbing cream will be applied to the injection site; after the injection, Dr. Greenberg will massage the area to help reduce swelling and bruising.

What Results Will I See?*

Radiesse is a very popular injectable filler choice and, because of its long lasting results, it can be an alternative for some patients who are unable or unwilling to have a surgical procedure such as a facelift or brow lift. It is minimally invasive and the results can be maintained over time. Results usually last about 9-12 months.

Is There Any Downtime?

Swelling generally subsides in one to two days. Your pain should be minimal. You can resume most of your normal activities immediately after the procedure, but it’s advisable to avoid strenuous activity for a day or two.
