Do you have skin imperfections that hinder your confidence? If you are ready to look more confident with new, radiant skin while reducing the appearance of aging marks and other skin conditions, microneedling may be a beneficial treatment for you.
Are Microneedling Results Long-lasting?
If you’ve heard of microneedling and the wonders it can do for your skin, you may be wondering how long microneedling results last. You can expect results to last from 3-6 months, but results vary depending on patients’ individual skin goals and needs.
Although microneedling results do not last forever, they can last for a long time with great skincare habits and maintenance treatments. Receiving maintenance treatments will allow your skin to continue producing collagen and elastin, which will keep your skin strong and keep you looking younger as you age.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a safe and effective cosmetic procedure that reduces the appearance of facial wrinkles, lines, scars, and other skin conditions, providing you with a refreshed, youthful complexion. Additionally, the minimally-invasive microneedling treatments smooth, tighten, and tone your skin.
Moreover, microneedling treatments create tiny holes in your skin that boost the effectiveness of skin care products.
How Microneedling Works
Skin care experts, like the ones at Winter Park Plastic Surgery & Laser Center, perform microneedling procedures by using a hand-held tool with several micro-sterilized needles. These small needles are used on your skin at different depths, depending on your treatment plan.
The needles pierce the skin, causing injuries known as “micro injuries.” Once your skin detects these injuries, it begins the healing process, stimulating collagen and elastin production. What’s the result? Newly tightened and glowing glass skin!
The procedure itself lasts about half an hour and requires no downtime. After the procedure, your face may be red, swollen, and itchy, but these symptoms subside in two days or less.
How Many Microneedling Sessions Do I Need?
Most patients need around 3-6 microneedling sessions to see excellent results. Keep in mind that the more microneedling treatments you get, the better results you will obtain.
Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?
If you wish to reduce the appearance of certain skin conditions while achieving a flawless-looking complexion, microneedling may be suitable for you. Most people are eligible candidates for microneedling treatments.
Microneedling may not be appropriate for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have skin infections and open wounds, and recently received radiation treatments.
