Are signs of aging around the eye area making you look tired or hiding your beautiful eyes? An eyelid lift corrects issues like drooping eyelids, undereye bags, and wrinkled eyelid skin. This procedure can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids, or both to help you achieve a bright, refreshed appearance and more youthful-looking eyes.

What is an Eyelid Lift?

An eyelid lift, also known as eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty, is a procedure performed on the lids to correct signs of aging, such as wrinkles, drooping, and puffiness. It can also remove loose skin that has sagged enough to block part of your vision, helping you see better. Dr. Greenberg performs blepharoplasty in our accredited in-office surgery facility for your comfort and convenience.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)?

While many people can benefit from an eyelid lift, the procedure is not right for everyone. Only a consultation can determine whether Dr. Greenberg feels that blepharoplasty will meet your needs. Factors that help him decide whether you are a good candidate include:

  • You should be over the age of 18
  • You should be in good health with no medical issues that would affect your procedure
  • You should have reasonable expectations about your results
  • You should have concerns that can be addressed with this procedure
  • You should be prepared to take the needed amount of time off to recover

You might not be a candidate for an eyelid lift if you are pregnant, have a medical problem that would make surgery unsafe, or have issues that are better addressed with a different procedure.

How is an Eyelid Lift Performed?

Dr. Greenberg performs blepharoplasty using general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. He uses small incisions hidden in the eyelid creases to lift and tighten loose skin, reposition or remove puffy-looking fat pads, and correct other issues. A few small sutures are used to close the incisions, which will heal and become nearly impossible to see.

What is Recovery Like After an Eyelid Lift?

Your eye area may look swollen and bruised after your procedure. Swelling and soreness improve significantly after the first few days. Most people can return to work and light activities after about ten days. However, you will receive aftercare instructions specific to your needs, so follow your team’s guidelines. More strenuous activities can usually be resumed within a few weeks.

Do I Need an Eyelid Lift or a Brow Lift?

If you have skin that droops over your eyes, it can be hard to tell if the problem is your eyelids, brows, or both. If drooping eyebrows are giving your eyes a “hooded” appearance, you might benefit from a brow lift. This procedure can be performed with an eyelid lift for complete rejuvenation. Discuss all your concerns during your consultation.

Dr. Greenberg is the most compassionate and reassuring surgeon. He is exceptionally patient and thorough. From my initial consultation through my entire recovery process, he has been understanding and answered all the questions and concerns. The staff is amazing!
