Many people struggle with knowing which surgery they need: brow lift or blepharoplasty–eyelid surgery. Both these techniques improve symptoms of aging around the eyes to give a more youthful look. During a consultation at Winter Park Plastic Surgery, Dr. Scott Greenberg will discuss which procedure is best for you.

Eyebrow Lift

A brow lift reduces signs of aging due to a sagging brow line. The eyebrow sits above the bone for women and on the brow for men. The eyebrow begins to sag as a person ages, causing the skin to infringe upon the eyelid. The body naturally lifts the eyebrow to improve vision, causing frown lines to appear on the forehead from the effort.

A brow lift corrects the eyebrow’s position, smoothing out the frown lines and fixes the sagging over the eyes.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

An eyelid lift changes the shape and appearance of the eyelids, reducing bagginess around the eyes. With age, the loose skin on the eyelid begins to sag. Eyelid surgery can be performed on the upper and lower eyelid, depending on your needs.

Blepharoplasty corrects the eyelid’s shape and does not affect the thick skin between eyebrows and eyes. Blepharoplasty is not only a cosmetic procedure. Often the surgery is performed to improve vision impairment. In these cases, the insurance company may help cover the expenses.

Which Facial Rejuvenation Procedure is Best for You?

If you consistently look like you are frowning or deep in thought, a brow lift may be best for you. Eyebrow lifts involve a minimal incision technique–several small incisions along the scalp line and upper eyelid. Dr. Scott Greenberg remodels the muscle and tissue while removing any excess tissue. Eyebrow lifts may be performed with other facial rejuvenation techniques.

If you have bagginess around your eyes or struggle with excess skin on your eyelid, blepharoplasty may be best for you. Blepharoplasty takes several forms, depending on your individual needs. Eyelid surgery involves removing the excess thin skin, fat, and muscle on the eyelid. If needed, Dr. Scott Greenberg tightens the bottom eyelid to allow it to sit higher on the eyeball and reduce eye bags. Eyelid surgeries may be performed with other facial rejuvenation techniques.
