What is RF Microneedling?
At Winter Park Plastic Surgery, we use the Genius™ RF system for microneedling treatment. RF microneedling uses tiny needles that create micro-channels in the skin. The radiofrequency (RF) energy uses heat to cause controlled micro-damage to the deeper layers of the epidermis. The skin responds to this damage by producing healing and growth factors that promote immediate skin regeneration.
Both forms of micro-damage also trigger the skin cells to produce more collagen. Collagen makes up the structure that supports our skin and keeps it lifted and firm. As we age, the skin loses collagen, resulting in laxity and sagging. By stimulating collagen production, RF microneedling uses the body’s own collagen to tighten and improve the skin.
What Can RF Microneedling Treat?

What Results Will I See With RF Microneedling?
Most people will start to see results within a few months as the skin produces new collagen. Results will continue to improve with ongoing treatments. Most people will need a maintenance treatment once a year if they want to hold onto their results. Maintaining healthy collagen production benefits your skin.
Is There Any Downtime With RF Microneedling?
You can return to your regular routine after treatment. You may have some redness and soreness that will resolve on its own after a few days. You can apply makeup starting the day after treatment. You will need to wear sunscreen after treatment and avoid sun exposure as much as possible since your healing skin is very sensitive to UV rays.
