Mommy Makeover

After having children, many changes occur in the body that might not respond to diet, weight loss or regular exercise. There are changes in the abdomen and breasts that can be addressed with specific cosmetic surgery procedures, which can be combined to form a Mommy Makeover.

A mommy makeover typically involves a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), breast augmentation and possible liposuction of the hips and flanks. Some women may be interested in addressing other issues such as breast drooping or body contouring of other areas such as the inner thighs or arms.

A Mommy Makeover typically involves two or more of the following procedures:

Depending on the extent of the procedures, most times these procedures can be done in one operation.

Candidates for a Mommy Makeover

The best candidates for a Mommy Makeover are healthy, nonsmoking individuals who want to restore their pre-baby bodies. Mommy Makeover candidates should meet for a consultation with Dr. Greenberg to discuss their ideal goals. Ideal candidates should be finished with breastfeeding for at least six months, and not plan on having any additional children.

How Does It Work?

Because each Mommy Makeover is individually tailored to a patient’s specific needs, this means that each surgery is different. However, Dr. Greenberg performs the surgery using the same techniques that are used for breast augmentation, breast lift, liposuction, and/or tummy tuck. Most Mommy Makeover patients will be required to stay overnight for their comfort and safety.

Results*

You should see results from your Mommy Makeover around the three-month mark, although patients should anticipate their final results being visible about a year after their procedure.

Recovery*

A recovery plan is tailored to the patient, based on the procedures she requested. Mommy Makeover patients should anticipate taking 1-2 weeks off of work, depending on the number of procedures performed. You should have help around the house – especially with younger children – as you won’t be allowed to lift anything heavy off of the ground. You should be able to return to normal activities within four to six weeks, or based on Dr. Greenberg’s recommendations.
