Time, environmental exposures, and many other factors can lead to skin that looks uneven, hyperpigmented or shows other signs of aging. Microneedling effectively triggers new collagen development to restore your skin’s smoothness and firmness. This treatment provides long-lasting results with minimal downtime for skin rejuvenation that fits your lifestyle.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is so effective at promoting collagen formation that it is often called collagen induction therapy. The needles create microchannels in the skin, triggering a healing response that brings healthy new cells to the surface. At Winter Park Plastic Surgery & Laser Center, we offer Genius™ RF microneedling to provide maximum results using radiofrequency energy.

What Can Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that addresses a wide range of skin concerns. It is often recommended for issues such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin laxity
  • Acne scars
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Dullness
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Enlarged pores

Because it triggers so much collagen development, microneedling excels at treating textural issues like fine lines and acne scars. Its skin-rejuvenating properties also replace dull, hyperpigmented surface layers with fresh, vibrant cells.

Microneedling can become a regular part of your skincare routine. Occasional maintenance treatments will keep collagen production high, fighting signs of aging. The more microneedling treatments you have, the smoother and more even your skin will become.

How Does Microneedling Work?

We use Genius™ RF microneedling because it adds the benefits of radiofrequency energy to the traditional microneedling technique. During your treatment, the tiny needles enter your skin to a precisely controlled depth. They emit RF energy that stimulates the fibroblasts, collagen-producing cells found in your dermis. This collagen induction therapy restores the skin’s smoothness and firmness.

Is There Any Downtime After Microneedling?

You may experience redness and sensitivity after microneedling that lasts a few days. You will not need any downtime, but avoid treatments like scrubs, peels, or other irritating products until your skin is no longer sensitive. Your Winter Park team can recommend skincare products to use after treatment. Use sunscreen and avoid sun exposure to protect your developing collagen.

How Many Microneedling Treatments Will I Need?

Most people need a short series of microneedling treatments to achieve their desired results. We usually recommend three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. You may notice that your skin looks brighter and refreshed within a few days after treatment, but full results will appear after several weeks and can take up to three months to develop fully. Microneedling results can last a year or more. We recommend yearly maintenance treatments, although each person’s needs will be different.
