Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves using tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. This process produces collagen and elastin, which improves fine lines, acne scars, and the skin’s overall quality.

Microneedling also creates microchannels that can help skincare products work more efficiently to improve the appearance of the skin.

What Conditions Can I Treat With Microneedling?

Microneedling can be used to treat:

  • Acne scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
  • Age spots
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Loose skin

How Does Microneedling Work?

Before your microneedling procedure at Winter Park Plastic Surgery and Laser Center, our experts will cleanse your skin and apply a numbing cream to lessen discomfort.

Afterward, a small handheld microneedling device with a sterile disposable tip with 12 tiny needles will be used to pierce into your upper layers of skin up to 2mm, creating numerous micro-tunnels. This prompts your body’s response in producing new collagen and elastin fibers for optimal results.

After the treatment, a soothing Vitamin-C serum is used to hydrate and heal your skin, while an emollient hyaluronic acid also protects it.

Am I a Good Candidate for Microneedling?

Microneedling is safe for almost everyone. However, microneedling may not be suitable for people who are pregnant or have recently had radiation therapy.

How Long Does Microneedling Take?

Microneedling typically takes 30 minutes.

Is There Any Downtime?

Microneedling has no recovery time. However, after a microneedling procedure, an inflammatory skin reaction might be extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pink that may last for 12-48 hours.
