What to Expect After a Breast Lift

Sagging breasts after weight loss, pregnancy, or aging is common and can leave you wishing for the days of your youth when you had a perky and firm bust. A breast lift can remove excess skin, correct sagging breasts, and help you achieve the youthful and defined breasts you desire.

How is a Breast Lift Performed?

The technique utilized for your breast lift will vary depending on your breast shape and size, the elasticity of the skin, the size of the areolas, the volume of excess skin, as well as the degree of breast sagging. Dr. Scott Greenberg will have a consultation with you to determine the best approach for your unique breast lift. 

At Winter Park Plastic Surgery, Dr. Greenberg performs breast lifts under general anesthesia. During your procedure, he will make incisions before lifting and reshaping the breasts to enhance their shape and position. Dr. Greenberg may also remove excess skin in places such as enlarged areolas to create your desired appearance. The breast lift will typically take two to three hours to complete. 

What to Expect After a Breast Lift

After your breast lift, Dr. Greenberg will provide post-care instructions to ensure an optimal and comfortable recovery. After your procedure, we may provide you with a surgical bra and light dressings to minimize swelling and provide support as you heal. You will likely experience swelling and bruising for about two weeks after treatment. 

You should avoid physical activity, bending over, and lifting heavy objects while you recover from your breast lift. Be sure to wear your support bra for as long as recommended and sleep on your back to avoid putting pressure on your breasts. 

You may be able to return to work a week after treatment, but this varies depending on the patient. Full recovery from a breast lift may take four to six weeks. If any questions arise, be sure to contact Dr. Greenberg so he can address them.

What Results Can I Expect After a Breast Lift?

After a breast lift, you will immediately see that your breasts are firmer, more symmetrical, and higher on your chest. As your breasts heal, you will continue to see improvements in your results, and your incisions will fade and soften. It may take two to three months for your final results to appear. 

Am I a Candidate for a Breast Lift?
