Pregnancy, weight loss, or the effects of time can lead to drooping, flat-looking breasts. A breast lift will correct sagging and restore your breasts to their naturally perky position. However, it will not replace lost breast volume. Combining a breast lift with implants allows you to achieve your desired size, shape, and profile.

What is a Breast Lift or Mastopexy?

If you have been pregnant, lost weight, or experienced the effects of aging and gravity, your breasts may now be much lower than their youthful position. A breast lift or mastopexy corrects this issue by removing excess skin to lift and shape the breasts. Dr. Greenberg performs breast lifts to restore the breasts you had before sagging took effect. However, this procedure cannot restore lost volume.

Can I Have a Breast Lift With Implants?

If your breasts droop, this sagging may not be your only problem. Breasts may droop because they have lost volume, becoming flatter and losing their shape. A breast lift alone can restore these breasts to a lifted, perky position, but it cannot restore missing volume or make your breasts larger.

A breast lift with implants lets you achieve your goals with rejuvenated shape and volume. Combining these procedures does not extend your recovery time. It will also save money over having each separately. Only a consultation can determine which type of procedure will work best for you.

How is a Breast Lift Performed?

Mastopexy is usually performed in our accredited in-office surgical facility under general anesthesia. The details of your procedure will vary depending on your needs. Incisions may be made along the edge of the areola, in a vertical line under the breast, or horizontally in the breast crease.

If you have breast implants placed at the same time, Dr. Greenberg will usually use the existing incisions to create a pocket and insert your implants. The size and type of implant are determined before your procedure, so you achieve the results you expect.

What is Recovery Like After a Breast Lift With Implants?

You can expect some soreness and swelling, especially within the first few days. Most people can return to low-activity jobs within two weeks. You can resume strenuous activities such as exercise in four to six weeks. Recovery is usually the same with or without implants since no extra incisions are usually needed.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift With Implants?

Most people who are eligible for a breast lift can also have breast implants. Good candidates for a breast lift with implants are in good health and have reasonable expectations. You are a good candidate for adding implants to your breast lift if you have lost volume or want to increase your breast size.
