Whether you’re experiencing loss of skin elasticity or breast volume, a breast lift procedure (also known as Mastopexy) could be the ideal solution for you. Helping you to achieve your desired shape and firm breasts, it will correct sagging and give you a boost in self-confidence.
Whether due to a decrease in elasticity or volume secondary to gravity, aging, weight fluctuations or pregnancy, a breast lift can be a viable option for many. Giving your breasts a more youthful appearance, the procedure usually takes between 2-3 hours. A popular procedure around the world, it will reshape your breasts, elevate them and effectively reposition the nipples.
During the procedure, you will be put under general anesthesia before your surgeon creates small incisions around the breast. They will then remove excess skin, before the nipple and areola are repositioned to align with the higher placement of the breast. To ensure the correct shape, the surgeon will then reshape and contour the remaining breast skin.
As every woman’s breasts are unique, the technique will vary depending on the shape and what results you want to achieve.Dr. Scott A. Greenberg, who is a Board-Certified plastic surgeon, will discuss the techniques and treatment with you at the start of the process.
You might be wondering, am I a candidate for a breast lift? You’ll be pleased to know that women that are non-smokers, are in good physical health and have realistic expectations for the procedure are the most suitable candidates for breast lift surgery.
To ensure that it is a suitable procedure for you, it is a good idea to schedule a consultation at the Winter Park Plastic Surgery and Laser Center.
Breast Lift Recovery
Before you go into breast lift surgery, it is important to know what the recovery is like for it. And while this can vary person-to-person, recovery for breast lift surgery typically takes up to 6 weeks.
Over this time, your breasts will heal and any bruising and swelling will fade over time. Throughout the next few months following the surgery, the color of the incisions will also improve, making your repositioned breasts look very natural.
After the surgery, your surgeon will recommend that you wear a light dressing to promote healing, along with a supportive surgical bra for one week. During this week it is advised that you avoid any strenuous activity – such as exercise or lifting heavy objects. Even though this may be possible 3 weeks after, activity level will depend on the individual treatment plan laid out by your surgeon.
Your surgeon will also advise you as to when it is safe to return to work (which is typically one week after the procedure), how to care for your healing scars and how to bathe to prevent infection. To help with any pain caused by the surgery, your plastic surgeon may also prescribe you medication, or suggest over the counter pain management options.

Youthful and perky breasts
“I am really really nervous, excited, anxious, and honestly have no idea how this is going to turn out. I am scheduled to go to my pre-op appointment on Dec. 28th. I was asked by my Dr./surgeon to look around for the breasts that I want. I do know that we decided on a lift and an augmentation because my breasts are “deflated” and look like pancakes now. I am so tired of looking in the mirror or leaning over and seeing shriveled up saggy boobs. I feel like one of those women in a 3rd world country that breast fed 10 children (no offense I’m sure they are beautiful women) …Anyway, here goes my journey. Please pray all goes well and recovery is as little pain as possible and no infections. Also, that I end up with the boobs of my dreams. Bikini watch out here I come this Summer!!!” *
