The eyelids tend to show some of the first signs of aging. Puffiness in the lower eyelids causing noticeable, bulging fat pads, or drooping eyelids causing a tired expression can be frustrating for many people.

Dr. Greenberg performs eyelid surgeries to help his patients restore their youthful eyes for a lifetime of enjoyment.

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve sagging eyelid skin and undereye bags. Also known as eyelid surgery, it can be used to restore the youthful appearance of upper or lower eyelids or both.

Most eyelid surgeries are performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation. Dr. Greenberg makes incisions along the creases of the eyelids or, for lower eyelids, inside the eyelid. Dr. Greenberg removes the excess skin and fat, then closes the incisions.

*Individual Results May Vary

What Results Can I Expect with Blepharoplasty?

You may notice some immediate changes after your surgery, but final results appear in a few weeks when the swelling and bruising subside. You will look more awake and alert with bright, youthful eyes. While improvement appears after a few weeks, your results may change for up to six months after the procedure.

For more dramatic anti-aging results, you may combine your eyelid surgery with other procedures such as a brow lift, a facelift, or nonsurgical options such as a laser peel.

How Long Does Eyelid Surgery Last?

Your youthful eyes cannot stop the continued effects of aging; however, some changes are permanent. The results of your blepharoplasty are long-lasting. Proper sun protection can help maintain your youthful appearance.

Is There Any Downtime with Blepharoplasty?

After your surgery, you will spend 1-2 hours in Winter Park Plastic Surgery’s recovery room for our staff to monitor your progress. Then, a friend or family member may drive you home and help you for the rest of the night.

You may experience swelling, bruising, blurred or double vision, light sensitivity, numbness, and discomfort following your procedure. Full recovery should take 9-10 days. Dr. Greenberg will discuss your post-op needs before eyelid surgery with you and your family.

Am I a Good Candidate for Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)?

You may be a good candidate for eyelid surgery if you struggle with excess skin around your eyelids or heavy undereye bags. The best candidates for blepharoplasty are healthy nonsmokers with realistic expectations.
