A double chin can make you feel self-conscious. Kybella® can get rid of that accumulated fat to give you a more contoured neckline. As the only injectable treatment for submental (under the chin) fat, Kybella® gives people a nonsurgical option for double chin improvement.
What is Kybella®?
Kybella® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for the removal of fat cells from the submental area. Unlike other treatment options, Kybella® requires no invasive procedures and no downtime. A series of Kybella® injections can leave you with significant improvements to the contour and shape of your chin and neck.
What is Kybella® Made Of?
The body uses a variety of molecules to break up fat cells in the digestive system. Kybella® uses deoxycholic acid, a synthetic version of the same molecule made by the body. This synthetic version, produced entirely in sterile facilities, has the same effect as the body’s own version. When injected into the fat cells of the neck area, it begins to break down these cells without causing harm to the skin or other tissues.
Should I Get Liposuction or Kybella®?
Kybella® has grown in popularity as a non-surgical treatment for submental fat. Liposuction can also work to remove submental fat. Both produce a similar result in that they will both remove fat. However, liposuction leaves swelling, soreness, and bruising that can last for several weeks and will require some type of anesthesia. Kybella® requires no anesthesia, reducing potential risks, and requires no recovery time.
What Results Will I See With Kybella®?
During the weeks after your first treatment, your body begins to filter away the damaged fat cells. Most people will benefit from six sessions of Kybella® for maximum fat removal. You will need to allow up to four months for your results to become noticeable. Once they appear, however, your results are long-lasting. Removed fat cells cannot come back. However, dramatic weight changes could alter the appearance of your results.
Is There Any Downtime With Kybella®?
You can resume your regular activities immediately after Kybella®. You will see some swelling and possibly bruising and redness. The swelling can last as long as a month and occurs as a result of the fat cells’ reaction to Kybella®. Many people consider the swelling and the wait time for results a worthwhile trade-off for a non-surgical, long-lasting method of double chin removal.
Am I a Good Candidate for Kybella®?
Ideal candidates for Kybella® feel self-conscious about their double chin and would like to get rid of fat in the submental area. Candidates should have reasonable expectations and be prepared to wait a few months for results. Pregnant or breastfeeding women or people planning to have surgery in the lower facial area soon may not be good candidates.
