Whether your last pregnancy was recent or years ago, its effects on your body may still bother you. A mommy makeover undoes the changes to your figure that happen during pregnancy. You can eliminate sagging skin and stretch marks, improve the appearance of your breasts, and eliminate accumulated fat to restore your pre-baby shape.
What is a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover is a customized procedure to address pregnancy-related changes to your body. A mommy makeover typically includes procedures to address the abdomen and breasts. It can also include procedures that address other areas of concern. While you might think a mommy makeover is for those who have recently been pregnant, you can have a mommy makeover many years later if those changes still bother you.
How Long After Childbirth Until I Can Get a Mommy Makeover?
Several factors affect whether you are a good candidate for a mommy makeover. One consideration is when you want to have the procedure. You might consider a mommy makeover if you meet these criteria:
- You gave birth at least six months to a year ago
- You do not plan to have any more pregnancies (this will undo your results)
- You have someone to assist you during recovery, especially if you have small children
- You have no health problems that would affect your safety or recovery
- You have reasonable expectations
While you may look at your post-pregnancy body and wish for a mommy makeover immediately, your body adapts to these changes for six months to a year. At this time, Dr. Greenberg can properly assess your situation and plan your treatment. There is no maximum age for a mommy makeover if you are healthy enough for the procedure.
What is Included in a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover includes several procedures addressing the most common concerns. It almost always includes a few core procedures. Dr. Greenberg can customize your mommy makeover to provide the total rejuvenation you want.
Tummy Tuck
Since pregnancy causes numerous changes to the abdomen, a mommy makeover almost always includes a tummy tuck. This procedure will remove excess abdominal skin and fat, then tighten the remaining skin. It will also repair abdominal muscles that often separate during pregnancy for a flatter, more toned appearance.
Breast Enhancement
Pregnancy can also dramatically affect the breasts, causing drooping, volume loss, and changes in shape. A mommy makeover may include breast augmentation, breast lift, or breast reduction for full, shapely breasts.
Liposuction
Dr. Greenberg will use liposuction to remove areas of stubborn fat that accumulate during pregnancy. This body contouring can shape your waist, abdominal area, and many other locations. While liposuction will not help you lose weight, it will shape and sculpt your figure.
Other Procedures
A mommy makeover can include other procedures if you want to address other areas. These procedures can include a thigh lift, an arm lift, and other body sculpting techniques. Talk to Dr. Greenberg about all your concerns.
Non-Surgical Options
Dr. Greenberg and his team offer a wide variety of non-surgical options for tightening and improving the appearance of the skin. If the stresses of motherhood have started to show on your features, these treatments can make an excellent addition to your mommy makeover.
