If non-surgical treatments no longer provide the results you want, it may be time to consider a facelift. This anti-aging procedure restores a youthful, refreshed appearance. Dr. Greenberg has extensive experience in providing superior facelift results. This procedure can address issues like sagging skin, wrinkles, and loss of definition.

What is a Facelift or Rhytidectomy?

Many factors contribute to skin laxity, sagging, and other age-related changes. Collagen loss leaves your skin with less support and elasticity. At the same time, natural volume loss can lead to sagging and loss of firmness. A facelift or rhytidectomy corrects these concerns by lifting and repositioning the skin and underlying structures. Most people affected by these facial concerns also have loose neck skin and sagging jowls, so Dr. Greenberg usually combines a facelift with a neck lift.

How is a Facelift Performed?

A facelift is usually performed in our accredited in-office surgical facility. Dr. Greenberg uses incisions hidden around your ears and in your hairline to tighten loose skin, reposition fat, and lift the skin’s supporting tissues for a natural, refreshed look. Each rhytidectomy is a customized procedure, and the details are adjusted to provide you with optimal results. You will spend some time in our recovery area before being released to go home.

3 Tips for Facelift Recovery

You will need someone to drive you home after surgery, and you may want to have that person stay with you till the next day to help you with basic tasks. Most people feel significantly better within three to four days, although swelling and bruising can last for several weeks.

These tips can help you recover safely and maximize your body’s healing abilities.

Food Prep

Your body has a strong need for nutrients after any surgical procedure. However, you may not feel like cooking healthy meals for the first few days. Prepare easy, nutritious meals ahead of time so you can ensure your body has everything it needs while making your life easier.

Head Elevation

Laying flat after a facelift allows fluids to flow into your facial tissues, leading to more swelling. Rest and sleep with your upper body elevated to minimize swelling and discomfort. You should also sleep in a position that avoids pressure on your face.

Time to Rest

In today’s active world, many people feel pressured to return to work and other responsibilities sooner than recommended. Pushing yourself too hard during recovery can cause complications and delay your healing. Follow all your surgeon’s instructions, including rest time

What Procedures Can Be Combined With a Facelift?

Dr. Greenberg usually combines a facelift and neck lift to maximize your benefits. Many people choose to combine a facelift with other procedures. Common options include:

  • Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift)
  • Brow lift
  • Chin augmentation
  • Rhinoplasty

Combining procedures does not usually extend your recovery time.
