Even with diligent skincare and sun protection, the effects of time eventually affect your facial skin and underlying structures. A facelift reverses the effects of aging for a smoother, more youthful appearance. This procedure addresses lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and loss of definition that occur naturally with time and collagen loss. It also combines well with several other facial procedures.

What is a Facelift?

A rhytidectomy or facelift is an effective procedure for restoring a more youthful look. Dr. Scott Greenberg performs facelifts at Winter Park Plastic Surgery. Each facelift is a customized procedure designed to address your needs. A facelift tightens the skin and underlying structures, smoothing lines and wrinkles. Most of this lift occurs in the mid and lower face, enhancing your cheeks, sculpting your jaw, and correcting creases around the nose and mouth.

What Procedures Can Be Combined With a Facelift?

A facelift treats the middle and lower parts of the face very effectively. It also combines well with other procedures, allowing you to achieve full facial rejuvenation. Some procedures commonly paired with a facelift include:

Neck Lift

If you have concerns about drooping skin around your lower face and jowls, you may also have issues with the skin around your neck. A neck lift perfectly complements a facelift by defining your jawline and tightening loose neck skin.

Brow Lift

A facelift does not address the forehead area, so if you have concerns about forehead lines and sagging, you may add another procedure. A brow lift tightens, smooths the forehead, and raises the brows to a more youthful position.

Eyelid Lift

Tired-looking eyes can be corrected with an eyelid lift. This procedure targets the eye area, treating sagging skin, puffiness, and wrinkles for an alert, bright-eyed appearance. An eyelid lift can treat the upper or lower eyelids, or you can have both.

Non-Surgical Treatments

Several non-surgical options can boost the results of a facelift or target problem areas. People who have a facelift can also have Botox® to relax forehead wrinkles or crow’s feet. Laser skin resurfacing, peels, and microneedling can improve skin texture and tone.

What is Recovery Like After a Facelift?

You can expect to feel uncomfortable and need a lot of rest for the first two to three days after a facelift. We recommend having someone assist you for a day or two so you can focus on recovery. Swelling will improve significantly within the first week. Most people can return to work at that time. Full results can take three to six months to develop.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Facelift?

Most people seeking a facelift are in their 50s or 60s, but people older or younger can also benefit. Good candidates for a facelift have lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin around the mid and lower face. Ideal candidates have no health issues and reasonable expectations about their results. Only an assessment by Dr. Greenberg can determine whether you are a good candidate.
