The effects of Botox® treatment typically last between three and four months, depending on the patient’s ability to metabolize the substance from their body. For some individuals, the effects of Botox® can last for as long as six months, while others only see results for two months before having to return to the clinic. Furthermore, patients often find that the effects of their second and third Botox® treatment at Winter Park Plastic Surgery last longer than the first.

About Botox®

Botox® is an abbreviation of the phrase botulinum toxin, a muscle inactivator that occurs naturally in a bacteria called Clostridium botulinum. In the 1980s, cosmetic surgeons discovered that they could inject this compound into the face to inactivate muscles under the skin, temporarily reducing lines and wrinkles. Since then, millions of patients have used it safely to improve their appearance and roll back the signs of aging.

Botox® received FDA approval in 1989 and has been backed by strong science ever since. Patients love the treatment because it acts rapidly and is highly effective.

How Long Will Botox® Last?

Clinical experience and research suggest that the visible effects of Botox® last between three and four months. Over time, the body harvests the compound from the body, allowing nerve cells to fire again, reactivating muscles in the face. As such, Botox® isn’t a permanent procedure, like a facelift. Instead, the effects fade over time, necessitating follow-up sessions.

Some of Dr. Scott Greenberg’s patients experience shorter or longer effects from Botox® treatment. For instance, for some, Botox® can continue acting for up to six months, while for others the effects could fade within just two months, depending on the patient’s ability to clear the compound.

Benefits of Botox®

Botox® offers a range of benefits that make it one of the most popular and compelling cosmetic therapies available.

1. Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles:

Botox® relaxes the deep muscles in the face that can sometimes cause lines, wrinkles, and deep furrows. Patients see results about a week after treatment.

2. Proven to lift the brow:

Drooping brows are a sign of aging and something that affects many patients in middle-age and older. Botox® can be used to lift the brow, providing the entire face with a more youthful appearance.

3. No downtime:

Botox® is a non-surgical cosmetic technique, allowing you to return to your regular schedule immediately after treatment.

4. Lasts for months:

Most patients can expect Botox® treatment to last for many months before having to return to the clinic.

Am I a Candidate for Botox®?

Because Botox® is safe and non-invasive, practically anyone can benefit from it. It is particularly suitable for patients whose underlying facial muscles are active and causing unwanted tension across their faces, leading to furrows.

As with any cosmetic treatment, patients should have realistic expectations for what Botox® can achieve.

“I love going to Dr Greenberg’s office everyone is extremely welcoming. Today I had a facial today with Rayanna who was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. My skin was dry and leathery and after she finished was smoother and soft . She also waxed my eyebrows. They look great. I will be back.
I also got Botox for my TMJ from Jessie. It is the only thing that relieves my jaw and ear pain. She is a life saver.”
