Signs of aging around your eyes can lead to a tired, disinterested look. You can achieve brighter, more alert eyes with blepharoplasty. This procedure treats issues like droopy eyelids, puffy eye bags, and loose eyelid skin to achieve a more youthful appearance. An eyelid lift can have you looking and feeling so refreshed that people may ask how you look so well-rested.

What is Blepharoplasty or Eyelid Surgery?

Because the eye area often reveals signs of aging before we are prepared for them, blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is a popular way to restore your youthful look. Also known as an eyelid lift, this procedure can be performed on the upper, lower, or both sets of eyelids to address your unique concerns. Blepharoplasty can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures, such as a brow lift or facelift.

Can Blepharoplasty Fix Droopy Eyelids

Eyelid surgery offers a solution to a wide range of issues with the eye area. This procedure is used to treat conditions such as:

  • Sagging or droopy eyelids
  • Wrinkled or crepey eyelid skin
  • Eye bags
  • Puffiness
  • Loose skin that hangs over your eyes

Some people have enough loose skin that it begins to block their vision. In this case, blepharoplasty can even help you see better. If topical treatments no longer provide the firm, smooth eye area you want, an eyelid lift may be the solution to your undereye bags, eyelid wrinkles, and much more.

How is Eyelid Surgery Performed?

You will have the choice of general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation for your procedure. Both options are safe and keep you completely comfortable. Blepharoplasty is performed in our accredited in-office surgical facility. Incisions are usually hidden in eyelid creases, but they can sometimes be made inside the eyelids. Dr. Greenberg tightens excess skin and repositions fat pads to create a smoother, more lifted appearance.

What is Recovery Like After Blepharoplasty?

You may experience some swelling, bruising, and soreness after your procedure. Most people notice that these effects improve greatly after the first few days. People generally feel comfortable returning to work after about ten days. You will have regular follow-up appointments with Dr. Greenberg so he can monitor your healing. Most people have completely recovered in four to six weeks.

Am I a Good Candidate for Blepharoplasty?

Eyelid surgery is recommended for healthy adults who want to address droopy eyelids and other signs of aging around the eye area. Good candidates have reasonable expectations and achievable goals. You may not be a good candidate if you have certain health problems or are pregnant. Candidates must be able to take the necessary time to rest and recover after their procedure.

Dr. Greenberg is a fabulous plastic surgeon. I had an eyebrow lift, and he also did my upper and lower lids. The follow up care was excellent as were the results of the surgery. I would highly recommend using him.
