Sagging or drooping eyelids can cause a perpetual look of exhaustion even after a whole night’s rest. If you notice more people asking if you are okay or saying you look tired, you may be a good candidate for a blepharoplasty at Winter Park Plastic Surgery.
What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift, corrects drooping or sagging eyelids by removing excess skin, repositioning or removing fat pads, and correcting facial muscles. Blepharoplasty may be performed for upper or lower eyelids or both.
Depending on your comfort level and individual needs, blepharoplasty is performed under local or general anesthesia to ensure comfort during surgery. Dr. Greenberg will make an inconspicuous incision on the creases of your eyelids or the inner lining of the lower eyelid. Dr. Greenberg will remove the excess fat and skin and close the incisions.
Some people combine blepharoplasty with skin tightening treatments such as a chemical peel or laser resurfacing for maximum impact. If you want to combine the treatments, please discuss your options with Dr. Greenberg during your consultation.
Am I a Candidate for an Eyelid Lift?
Ideal candidates for an eyelid lift are non-smokers with realistic expectations. If you have drooping eyelids or undereye bags, you may be a good candidate for an eyelid lift. Eyelid lifts also may help if sagging eyelids hinder your vision.
Since every aspect of the face influences each other, other procedures may provide more desirable results. The best and easiest way to know if you are a good candidate for an eyelid lift is during a consultation with Dr. Greenberg at Winter Park Plastic Surgery.
What to Expect with Blepharoplasty Recovery
As an outpatient procedure, you will need a ride home afterward. If you combine your eyelid lift with other treatments, you may need to stay overnight. For only eyelid lifts, you’ll stay for one to two hours for observation before returning home.
Dr. Greenberg will discuss Post-op findings and care with you and your recovery caretaker before discharge. It is essential to follow all instructions to ensure the quickest recovery without any complications. Most people return to normal activities such as work nine to ten days after their surgery.
Results of an Eyelid Lift
You may notice changes in your appearance immediately, but the final results appear a few weeks later. You will look younger with a more alert expression and see the effects of removing undereye bags, dark circles, and sagging skin. Results may change up to six months after your discharge.
