What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing uses lasers to disrupt the outer layers of skin, triggering the production of healing factors and collagen growth. Lasers let your skincare professional control every aspect of treatment to give you a positive experience with amazing results.

Laser skin resurfacing improves skin concerns like:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scarring
  • Uneven tone or texture
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

Dr. Greenberg, a laser expert, will recommend whether an ablative or non-ablative treatment will work better for you.

Ablative Laser Treatment

This treatment removes the external layer of skin and applies heat to the underlying layers. This causes the body to produce collagen as it repairs this skin disruption. The depth of the treatment lets it produce deeper and more lasting results, but downtime may be quite a bit longer

Non-Ablative Laser Treatment

This method of laser resurfacing causes no damage to the skin and acts by stimulating the skin to produce collagen, which gives it a more youthful appearance. This form of laser treatment has less downtime but with less dramatic results

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

The best candidates for laser skin resurfacing are in good overall health, not pregnant or nursing, and non-smokers. If you have active irritation or a rash, Dr. Greenberg will recommend treating this first. If you have reasonable expectations about your results, you may be a good candidate

What Results Will I See From Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Downtime may be as short as a few days for a non-ablative laser to a week or more for an ablative laser, depending on the depth of treatment. As the skin heals, it produces collagen, which increases skin’s smoothness, lift, and tone.

Because collagen takes a few weeks to develop, the results of your procedure will continue to improve day by day over the following weeks and months. Dr. Greenberg may recommend several treatments to help you achieve the results you want.
