Your skin has several important jobs, but one of the most critical is protecting your body from the environment. As a result, it accumulates damage in the form of hyperpigmentation, uneven texture, and fine lines and wrinkles. Laser skin resurfacing lets you eliminate those damaged layers and replace them with youthful new cells.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a skin rejuvenation procedure used to address a wide range of concerns. At Winter Park Plastic Surgery & Laser Center, we use several types of lasers in order to offer the best one for your needs. This treatment removes or rejuvenates the outer layers of your skin where damage accumulates, revealing fresh skin that looks younger and smoother.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

Dr. Greenberg and his team will develop a treatment plan customized to your needs. Depending on your skin concerns, he may recommend an ablative laser, a non-ablative later, or a combination of the two. Ablative lasers address the outer skin layers, while a non-ablative laser treats the deep layers where new collagen forms. Our many treatment options allow us to target your specific skin concerns while providing all-over skin improvements.

What to Expect After Laser Skin Resurfacing

Because your treatment may use different lasers, each person’s experience will be different. However, we work to minimize your downtime while maximizing your results to ensure your time is worth it.

Is There Any Downtime?

Most forms of laser skin resurfacing have minimal downtime. Your skin will usually look red after treatment, and this can last from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the intensity of your treatment. You may also experience minor swelling and sensitivity lasting a few days. You may be able to return to your daily routine after treatment or may prefer to take a day or two of social downtime. Your laser specialist will tell you what to expect.

When Will I See My Results?

Effects such as smoother, brighter skin and tighter-looking pores may become noticeable within a few days after treatment. Other results develop over the next several weeks as hyperpigmented areas fade and your skin’s texture dramatically improves. Most people will benefit from a series of treatments to achieve their desired results, with more treatments needed when using less intensive lasers.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Rejuvenation?

Our expertise and wide range of options mean that almost anyone can enjoy the benefits of laser treatments. Individuals with most types of skin concerns and almost any skin type or tone can benefit. Good candidates should have achievable goals and be in generally good health. Even people who are not good candidates for intensive laser treatments can often see excellent results with a series of gentler ones.
