If your skin has started to show signs of aging, sun damage, or other concerns, you have a gentle but effective option for restoring its smoothness and glow. Photo rejuvenation uses light energy to restore your skin, fade pigmentation, and improve firmness so you can address all your most frustrating skin issues.Â
What is Photo Rejuvenation or a Photo Facial?
Photo rejuvenation refers to treatments that use a particular type of light energy to activate changes within the skin. This non-invasive procedure requires no downtime, making this treatment an excellent option for busy schedules. Photo rejuvenation uses BroadBand Light (BBL), a band of wavelengths that work on different pigments and layers of the skin. Depending on the wavelengths and intensity, this treatment can address a wide range of skin problems.
What Does Photo Rejuvenation Treat?
At Winter Park Plastic Surgery & Laser Center, we offer two forms of photo rejuvenation depending on your goals. While each focuses on different concerns, they are very similar in most other ways.Â
BBL Photo Rejuvenation
This treatment is a gold standard method for treating red and brown pigmentation concerns. Unlike most lasers, which can treat one type but not the other, BBL photo rejuvenation addresses issues like:
- Age spots
- Sun damage
- Spider veins
- Melasma
You will also see noticeable anti-aging benefits such as smaller, tighter pores and firmer skin.Â
SkinTyte Photo Rejuvenation
While photo facials, in general, offer many benefits, SkinTyte focuses on firming and collagen-generating properties. Alone or in combination with laser treatments, it can improve your skin’s resilience and texture for a more youthful look. It is intended for mild to moderate laxity, and those with more severe sagging may need a different treatment.
How Many Photo Rejuvenation Treatments Will I Need?
The number of photo rejuvenation treatments needed varies widely depending on the severity and type of skin concerns you want to address. In general, people need three or four sessions for pigmentation concerns and four to six for skin tightening to achieve their best results. These treatments are spaced a few weeks apart.Â
While there is no downtime after photo rejuvenation, your skin may feel sensitive. We can recommend skincare products to boost your results without irritating your skin while it heals. These treatments make your skin very sun-sensitive, so avoid exposure when possible and wear sunscreen at all times.Â
How Often Should I Have Photo Rejuvenation?
The full results of your photo facial can take several months to develop as your skin adds more collagen and pigmentation fades. Most people have a maintenance session every six months to a year to fight signs of aging and keep their skin fresh and even. We will work with you to find a schedule that meets your needs.
