Factors like aging, environmental exposures, and other types of damage can steal you skin’s natural radiance. While you have many options to help you reclaim that glow, the VI peel is a Winter Park Plastic Surgery & Laser Care favorite of many due to its rapid results and ability to restore your skin’s texture and fade hyperpigmentation with minimal downtime and as little as one treatment.

What is a VI Peel?

The VI peel is a type of chemical peel, a treatment that exfoliates the skin by peeling away dull and damaged outer layers to a targeted depth. Chemical peels range from very light peels with no downtime to deep peels with up to a few weeks of recovery. The VI Peel is a medium-depth peel, giving it an excellent balance of maximum effectiveness with minimal recovery. Along with the face, it can be used on the hands and almost anywhere else on the body.

The Science Behind the VI Peel

The classic VI Peel uses a unique combination of active ingredients, including:

  • Trichloroacetic acid (TCA)
  • Phenol
  • Salicylic acid
  • Tretinoin
  • Vitamin C

Each of the acids works in a different way to lift away layers of rough, hyperpigmented, and sun-damaged skin. Compounds like tretinoin and vitamin C speed up cell turnover and brighten your skin.

There are five types of VI Peel to target specific needs:

VI Peel: the classic multi-purpose VI peel that works at a medium depth to treat many different skin concerns.

VI Peel Precision: a more concentrated version of the original for deeper results, but with a bit more downtime.

VI Peel Precision Plus: contains ingredients to target hyperpigmentation, including skin concerns like melasma

VI Peel Purify: treats acne-prone skin by reducing bacteria on the skin and decreasing inflammation for fewer breakouts

VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus: recommended for those with significant textural and pigmentation damage due to acne or other factors

Is There Any Downtime After a VI Chemical Peel?

Your skin will usually look red and feel sensitive after your VI peel. Your skin will usually start to peel after about three days, a process that takes about two days to complete. We will recommend non-irritating products to use during this time to soothe and protect your skin. Your skin will be very sun-sensitive, so avoid exposure as much as possible.

What Results Will I See After a VI Peel?

Most people will see dramatic improvements as soon as their skin finishes peeling after their VI Peel. However, many will benefit from several sessions for maximum results, especially when treating severe hyperpigmentation or deep textural issues. As the treated layers flake away, they will reveal firm, radiant skin that can last for months, especially with good skincare.

I have been a customer of Shana Singleton since 2002. Over the years, Shana has managed to do wonders with my sun damaged and stressed skin. She does my facials, peels, collagen treatments, etc. Shana is very competent and experienced, and she always listens and understands my concerns. I strongly recommend her and the other members of the team at Winter Park Plastic Surgery and Laser. Professionalism and quality care is what you will get there.
