Preparing for your Breast Augmentation
Don’t worry, you won’t have to prepare for your surgery alone; in fact, board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Scott Greenberg will work closely with you to help ensure you’re fully prepared for the big day. In the meantime, you can expect to prepare for your breast augmentation with the following steps:
- Take a blood test, which will ensure that you’re healthy enough to undergo surgery.
- Adjust any medications that may affect your healing processes (for example, blood thinners). Dr. Greenberg will examine your medical history and recommend what medications you should adjust.
- Quit smoking and taking recreational drugs. It’s vital to do this about three weeks before your procedure.
- Stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs two weeks prior to surgery, as they are known blood thinners and can increase bleeding during your surgery.
There are other things you can do to prepare for your breast augmentation procedure. For example, many patients find it useful to create a post-recovery plan that makes the first week easier to handle. This could include preparing meals ahead of time and finding care for the first 24 hours. You should be able to sleep comfortably on your back in your own bed propped up on a few pillows.
