As the center of your face, your nose receives a lot of attention. If you feel uncomfortable with the size, shape, or symmetry of your nose, a rhinoplasty can sculpt the nose you desire. Rhinoplasty remains one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries, and in the hands of an experienced surgeon, your results will look natural and harmonious with your other features.

What is a Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty improves the appearance or function of your nose. Dr. Greenberg has extensive experience performing these procedures. You may feel like your nose is too large or not the right shape for your face. Rhinoplasty can achieve a natural-looking balance, so you feel happier with your appearance and less self-conscious about your nose.

How Much is a Rhinoplasty?

Pricing for rhinoplasty varies according to factors that include:

  • Your location
  • Your provider’s skill and experience
  • The type of rhinoplasty

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that the national average cost of rhinoplasty is $5483. This will not include surgical fees, anesthesia, medication, and other expenses. Most people who have a rhinoplasty consider it well worth the expense, and financing is available.

How Does a Rhinoplasty Work?

A rhinoplasty uses an incision either inside the nose or hidden between the two nostrils, depending on how much access Dr. Greenberg needs to achieve your desired results. The first method is a closed rhinoplasty, and the second is an open rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia, and you will be able to go home the same day. A rhinoplasty takes one to three hours. You can have a cosmetic rhinoplasty, a functional rhinoplasty, or have both types of correction done in one surgery.

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

A surgeon performs cosmetic rhinoplasty to improve the appearance of the nose. This may involve reshaping tissue, cartilage, and bone to change the nasal structure and give the nose a more pleasing shape.

Functional Rhinoplasty

A functional rhinoplasty improves problems that can limit breathing through the nose. Conditions treated with a functional rhinoplasty include a deviated septum, sleep apnea, and chronic sinus infections.

What Results Will I See With a Rhinoplasty?

You will see a noticeable difference after the first few weeks as you start to heal. Your results will develop over the next year as swelling improves. After functional rhinoplasty, your breathing might seem worse for a few weeks until the swelling starts to resolve.

What is Recovery Like After a Rhinoplasty?

You can expect visible swelling and bruising that fade two to three weeks after surgery. People whose jobs involve only light activity can usually return to work within a week, but you may need more time if you have a very active job.
