Dermal fillers rank among the top aesthetic procedures in the world. Dr. Scott Greenberg and his team at Winter Park Plastic Surgery and Laser Center provide a variety of dermal fillers to enhance your facial features and erase lines and wrinkles.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Facial features lose volume with age as fat and collagen decline. This contributes to skin laxity and the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers can improve facial volume and smooth away even deep lines and wrinkles. They can treat the cheeks, lips, and lines around the mouth and nose.
Each type of dermal filler has its lifespan. Dt. Greenberg and his team offer several types of dermal fillers so they can choose the best one for you.
One of the longest-lasting dermal fillers, Sculptra® works well for adding volume to sunken areas of the face. It contains poly-L-lactic acid, a material used in medical-grade sutures that stimulates collagen production. The resulting collagen boost lasts two years or more.
The Restylane® family of dermal fillers contains a variety of formulas. All are made of hyaluronic acid, a molecule that draws moisture into the skin and keeps it there. Formulas for the lips and mouth area can last six months to a year, while formulas for the cheek area can last up to eighteen months.
The Juvederm® family of fillers also contains several hyaluronic acid formulas for different areas of the face. They can target the lips, cheeks, nasolabial creases, and lines around the mouth. Like other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, they can last six to eighteen months.
All the materials listed above have high biocompatibility. This means they are safe to inject into the body with minimal risk of a reaction. Almost anyone can have dermal filler injections. If you have lost facial volume, want to smooth away lines and wrinkles, or want to enhance your facial features, you may be a good candidate.
What Results Will I See After My Dermal Filler Appointment?
Results of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Juvederm® and Restylane® may be visible right away, but will improve over the next few days. Sculptra® takes several weeks to make noticeable changes.
Is There any Downtime With Dermal Fillers?
You can go back to your usual activities after dermal filler injections. You will not require any downtime. You might notice a small amount of bruising or swelling that goes away on its own within a day or two.
