PhotoLite Photo Rejuvenation

For Patients in Orlando and Winter Park, Florida

Orlando and Winter Park, Florida IPL, Photo Rejuvenation and Photo Facials.

Lasers have been used to reduce facial wrinkles for some time. However, the incidence of side effects (prolonged wound healing and post-treatment redness and hypo-pigmentation of the skin) has not been satisfactory nor has the period of "downtime" necessary to recover and see the final result. As a result, there has been growing interest to find a non-ablative (non-wound producing) method of skin rejuvenation that achieves a similar-type result without the undesirable side effects and downtime necessary for healing. "PhotoLite" facial rejuvenation treatments use intense-pulsed light (IPL) laser-like technology to achieve improvement of skin texture, sun damage, irregular pigment, telangiectasias (blood vessels), rosacea and also improve large pores, fine lines and superficial acne scarring. These PhotoLite Rejuvenation treatments are recommended in a series of 5, each 2-3 weeks apart, giving progressive improvement.

The latest advance in photo rejuvenation is combining IPL with photodynamic therapy (PDT) to enhance the results of treatment of sun damaged, photoaged skin and rosacea. A photosensitizing agent (aminolevulinic acid or ALA) is applied to the skin for 30-60 minutes prior to the IPL treatment. PDT using ALA has been FDA approved for the treatment of actinic keratosis (AK), the most common form of pre-cancerous skin change. ALA is a naturally occurring substance in the body. When applied topically it is selectively absorbed into damaged skin cells. It is then converted into a powerful photosensitizer which can be activated by an appropriate light source such as IPL enhancing the treatment of large pores, broken capillaries, fine lines and skin texture problems. PDT can significantly enhance the treatment of a variety of cosmetic conditions of the skin related to sun damage and photoaging in selected patients.
