For those patients with more severe conditions such as deep wrinkles, severe acne scars, surgical scars, hypertrophic scars, epidermal nevi, actinic keratoses and severely sun damaged or photoaged skin, laser skin resurfacing may be an option.  It is usually performed under general anesthesia in the operating room. The depth of the peel varies depending on your condition and desired result.

Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment depth.  You will experience erythema (redness) and swelling that may last several weeks and there may be a residual pink or red color that may take several months to resolve.

Healing time varies among individuals, but you should be prepared for approximately one week of downtime away from your normal activities.  The amount of discomfort varies from patient to patient.  Dr. Greenberg and his staff will discuss your post laser treatment care options to properly manage any discomfort.
