Juvéderm™ is an hyaluronic acid-based injectable gel that smoothes your facial wrinkles and folds by restoring your skin's volume. It is recommended for treating marionette lines and other wrinkles around the mouth, and frown lines in the forehead. It is directly comparable to Restylane.
Hyaluronic acid, the base compound for Juvéderm, is found naturally in your body. It lubricates your joints and is a natural component of human skin. Our naturally occurring hyaluronic acid diminishes with age.
The results of Juvéderm treatment lasts four to six months. The effects diminish gradually as your body absorbs the natural hyaluronic acid. The advantage of this and other temporary fillers, such as Restylane, is that you can have touch ups or re-treatment at any time.
Juvéderm is not an animal-based filler, so you will not need an allergy test prior to your procedure.
The procedure
As with other injectable fillers, Juvéderm injections take about 15 minutes.
- Topical numbing cream is applied to the area
- Juvéderm is injected under the skin in precise areas
- If necessary, Dr. Greenberg will gently massage the treated area
- You will see full results in about one week

Recovery
It is normal for you to experience some minor swelling, pain, and redness after your treatment. This should subside within a week. For at least 24 hours after treatment, you should avoid strenuous activity, sun exposure, and excessive heat.
